Naval Historical Society of Australia
While I mostly post about books on this site, I came across the Naval Historical Society of Australia website which I thought might be of interest to my readers, particularly those with an interest in the history of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
The Society’s mission is to record, preserve and promote the knowledge, understanding and awareness of naval history of Australia at all levels of the national community.
The Society appears to be very active in Sydney – with a range of programs – and Navy in Sydney Harbour Cruises plus next year there are several anniversary tours planned commemorating Sydney under Japanese Attack.
Membership is A$35/year for digital and A$85.00 with printed publications.
There are chapters of the Society in the ACT, Victoria and WA.
For anyone interested in Australian Naval history, this looks like an excellent stopping off point.
I actually began my working life at Garden Island in Sydney. It was a fascinating place to work. Next time I’m in Sydney, I’ll be checking out the tour of Garden Island.
There is a permanent link to the Society on the USEFUL LINKS page.
